volunteer at page master zine fair 2025

This past weekend I joined Page Master Zine Fair 2025, probably the biggest zine fair in Hong Kong I’ve ever tabled at. The venue was small but filled with visitors, making the atmosphere busy and exciting. It felt great to be part of the independent publishing and art community in Hong Kong, where so many talented artists, presses, and small publishers gathered together.

Volunteering at the communal table was a nice experience. It also gave me a chance to flip through some zines I might have missed otherwise. One was a series of character sketches drawn completely from memory, this volume focusing only on “evil” characters. It was both funny and impressive in its detail. I later found out the first volume had been all the “good” characters, which made the concept even more amusing. Another zine that amazed me was a “zine fair survival guide,” written with a lot of humor about preparing for fairs, choosing where the venues, pricing, and even how to deal with the stress of the day. I also came across many illustration-based prints with really varied and distinct styles, from playful and bold to more delicate and experimental.

On top of that, meeting other volunteers and exchanging work was meaningful too. Hearing about their projects, from poetry to Risograph photo books, gave me new energy and reminded me to move forward with Japan drama ideas I’ve been holding onto for a long time.

剛剛過去的周末參加了page master zine fair 2025，應該算是擺檔以來規模最大的本地擺攤經驗，場地不算很大加上很多觀眾，整個早上都水泄不通，好不熱鬧。面對同場這麼多高質素press/publisher/artist，內心都不禁有比下去的感覺，不過有機會見識到其他作品都很值得的！

另外之前報名成為了活動義工，有機會在communual table當值也是不錯的經驗，（老實說因場地人太多便有點不舒服，而且站在同一位置看書也不好意思怕阻礙到其他人，也看不下去） 但站在攤位內只要有空檔時間我便可以去看桌上的展品，有些也真的很不錯！ 有本是憑記憶畫所有evil角色，看得令人發笑，跟其他人說起才發現是第二集，第一集是所有good character。另一本是zine fair 生存手冊，也是很幽默的介紹如何準備去擺攤，如何選場如何定價之類，還有當天的應對。也有不少illustration based的印刷品，畫風都很diverse。

此外還可以跟其他義工交流！我們都有交流自己的作品，有位寫詩的男生，還有喜歡k pop的女生，那女生也有riso，自己印刷明星riso相集，印刷效果很好，很有愛呢。希望之前腦海中的日劇合集也快點有行動力實行岀來。
